This year's amazing Teddington Lights Up, attended by an estimated 12,000 people, has been turned into a movie!

Local film company Glass Mountain Films captured the Christmas spirit and the joy and fun of the annual Teddington celebration last month (Thursday 25 November).

Viewers will catch a glimpse of their favourite shops, cafes and restaurants in Teddington including Cavan Bakery, Sidra, The Refill Larder, The Park Hotel, Roan Records, Café Benedict and The Fallow Deer, as well as the performances of local bands and choirs - and even the dancing on the balcony at Teddington Hardware!

Lisa Wyborn, of Teddington Together, which organised and raised the money for the Lights Up event, told Teddington Nub News: "We are truly grateful for the film and if we are honest there are just not enough words to express how much we love and appreciate it.

"This year was a real struggle to get sponsors but with this fantastic new film it will really help us to get sponsors on board for next year's event and make it bigger and better. I hope it's a showcase for us to get more support.

"The company approached us and asked if we were happy for them to film the event and we nearly bit their arm off!

"What's wonderful is as a corporate company they give back to the community by producing these films for free for us to share with all the traders and residents who adore the film because it captures the sheer joy of the event and brings a smile to your face.

"We defy even the worst of Scrooges out there not to be filled with a wonderful sense of Christmas well-being. Just when you think Teddington Lights Up 2021 is a distant memory Glass Mountain produce this fabulous film to remind us all of these very special moments."

The last shot of the short two minute movie says 'Stay Safe and Support Your High Street Teddington.'

Glass Mountain Films founder and film-maker Mike Bundred and his wife Steph moved to Teddington just three years ago from Cape Town and want to make a difference in the local community.

He said: "We try to put together video of any community events that we can. The Teddington Lights On video was such an event and we thought it was important to put something together to remember the community coming together so wonderfully.

"With so many small businesses going under due to Covid and the current climate, we also thought it important to remind people that shopping locally and supporting the businesses in our community can make all the difference in keeping those businesses going!

"I am both a cinematographer and editor, and as with most of our content I filmed the event and edited the video myself. We try to keep to a style of content that focuses on people, stories and ideas instead of any flashy graphics or transitions.

"I am a huge believer in the fact that beauty can be found in almost any situation and I try to find that with the camera! We film with top quality gear and feel we can compete on quality with the big guys at typically a fraction of their cost.

"The music used was sourced from an international film content library, but I used that specific track as it resonated with me strongly in terms of the idea that even during our current troubling times Christmas is literally made up of the people we love. We are each other's 'Happy Holiday!'"
