Despite firing out the blocks from the first whistle against Southgate and creating plenty of chances, Teddington struggled to convert in the first quarter of this predictably tight home clash.
Southgate began to build momentum as they were encouraged by some staunch defending and managed to win several short corners, but the Teddies defence and some fine keeping kept them at bay. It was the Home side that finally broke the deadlock with a frantic piece of concerted play outside the D which led to a tap in goal from Riley Flecker-Lister.
After a solid half-time tactics talk, the second half saw a more calm and composed Teddington side, creating more chances and getting reward through short corners. They went 2-0 up, after some excellent transition play between defence and midfield allowing Olivia D'Castro to slot one past the Southgate keeper from close in.
With the pressure still on from Southgate, the match remained tense and both sides continued to attack. After solid defending from both sides, it was Teddington who finally broke through with Alex Hurst extending the lead to three.
With a few minutes left, Southgate managed to finally convert one of their numerous short corner chances, but a composed Teddington almly managed the game out to go to the top of the league and ready to face second placed Wayfarers this coming weekend.
