Teddington business owner attends Rachel Reeves’ small businesses celebration

A Teddington restaurant has been recognised at 10 Downing Street.
Shambles Restaurant & Winebar, an award-winning local Teddington business, was invited to 10 Downing Street recently, at a special reception hosted by the UK's Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves.
The reception was held to recognise the contribution of the UK's 5.45 million small businesses to the country's economy, society and communities.
Shambles' invite follows co-owners Margherita and Massimo Langella's winning of the Legacy Award, for Best Family Business, UK title, which awards the unique challenges and strengths of family-run businesses.
Margherita attended the special event which brought together recent winners and finalists of The Small Awards.

This annual awards showcase is organised by Small Business Britain and celebrates the UK's 'smallest and greatest' businesses.
Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves said: "It's fantastic to celebrate the success of some of the UK's brightest and best small businesses who play a vital role in driving growth, supporting jobs and keeping our high streets and communities thriving.
"We're backing our small businesses by tackling issues like late payments and announcing £6.6bn of new capital for the British Business Bank to help SMEs expand, create new jobs, and boost their competitiveness internationally".
The event featured an array of over 40 small businesses, from micro-businesses and family businesses to start-ups and high street heroes.
According to Small Business Britain , Shambles's owners won the Legacy award because "The business demonstrates involvement and contribution from family members as well as business success".
Massimo said: We're thrilled that Shambles was invited to a special reception at Downing Street to celebrate this year's 'Legacy award' win for Best Family Business, UK at The Small Awards – for recognition of enduring success, shared vision, and generational dedication of family-run businesses.
"We're incredibly proud to represent our community and the hospitality industry at such an iconic place. A huge thank you to our amazing team and loyal guests, we couldn't have done it without you."

"Small businesses are the heart and soul of their communities and contribute massively to the UK economy," said Michelle Ovens CBE, Founder of Small Business Britain.
"It is fantastic to see the stellar achievements of Shambles recognised by the Chancellor and the Treasury in this way, at such a special event. It is so important that the whole nation gets behind small businesses and gives them all the support they need."
