This week saw Teddington host a top of the table clash with London Wayfarers and with both teams equal on points and Teddington ahead only on goal difference it was always going to be a tight affair.

Teddington found themselves under pressure immediately from the pushback as Wayfarers showed their intent to press high, work hard to win the ball and then attack quickly.

The Teddies defence stood strong in the early stages and began to reply with a few lightning counter attacks and one leading to the award of a short corner and the first real chance.

Frantic defence from Wayfarers saw them repel the danger, but it did show Teddington's own intent and the visitors wisely moved to defend the middle of the pitch to try to reduce the supply to the front runners.

Despite end to end play and a calmly defended short corner from the Home side, the first half ended 0-0.

The second period opened up with Teddington dominating with lots of circle entries. A short corner with 15 minutes to go put Teddington 1-0 up - Olivia D'Castro lifting the ball over the Wayfarers goalkeeper.

Huge cheers from the sizable Teddington crowd spurred the team on and it wasn't long before Teddington found the back of the net again with Eleanor Jolly striking the ball into the goal from another slick short corner routine.

A game of this importance was never going to peter out and Wayfarers managed to pull one back with five minutes to go with a quick break away against the run of play. Teddington were then under huge pressure for the remainder of the game, not helped by losing a player to a card.

In a last ditch attempt to get back on terms, Wayfarers bravely pulled their goal keeper off, which meant Teddington were essentially playing 9 against 11 outfield players.

Nerves were shredded when Teddington were forced to defend several short corners, but the Teddies goalkeeper Isabel Pinder made some crucial saves to keep them out.

The final whistle blew to loud cheers, with Teddington finishing victorious and maintaining their position at the top of the league, but this time stretching the lead to an important three points.
