Having published hundreds of stories about Teddington and surrounds in the last year, we have picked one story from each month to help summarise 2025.
The news locally this year has been dominated by council plans, community events, planning applications, and new businesses opening.
But we have tried to reduce each month to just one story and one photograph.
January

Kicking of 2025, you were all super excited to hear about the opening of a new boardgame café, Drinks & Dice in Teddington.
The café, which is located on Church Road, opened on 18 January after owner, Robin Kerremans bought the site from the owners of the former HoMe restaurant.
However, despite the excitement and an updated menu, Kerremans decided to put the café up for sale in November.
February

Now Teddington does not tend to have a lot of crime going on if you compare it to other London towns, but February saw a string of attempted burglaries across our town by three masked men.
The first attempt began on King Edward's Grove, where the victims caught the men on their doorbell camera, before another two attempts were made, causing local police to believe that the break ins were linked.
However, despite Teddington's Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) claiming it was close to capturing the perpetrators, it never revealed that it did.
March

In March, you were all excited to read that the beloved The Lion pub was after a two-year closure.
After being closed since 2022, The Lion pub was sold to fifteen local investors, according to Fleurettes Estate Agents.
The site of the pub, which was owned by Stonegate Group pub chain, is located on Wick Road and was up for sale on Fleurettes for £950,000 +VAT.
Stonegate Group described The Lion as: "a well presented, Victorian style pub which occupies a corner plot in a residential part of Teddington, London".
The Lion reopened under its new ownership in early December.
April

In April, you were all most excited about another pub story as locals rallied to save an "iconic" pub in Hampton.
More than 120 local residents packed the Hampton Hub to launch a community fightback aimed at saving one of the area's most cherished social spaces, The Railway Bell pub, affectionately known as "The Dip."
The meeting marked the formation of Save the Dip, a grassroots group founded by local resident Robert Lee.
The campaign's mission is to prevent the permanent loss of this historic local pub and explore options to bring it into community hands.
The Railway Bell had to suspend trading in April 2024 following the death of longtime licensee, Seamus O'Kane.
May

And in May, you were all eager to read about the closure of Teddington's Budgens store which was stationed on High Street for 20 years.
Teddington's Budgens store officially closed down on Wednesday, 30 April at 11pm.
The store, which sold essential goods, was transformed into Teddington Pantry in November.
June

On a more negative note, our most read story in June was about two teenage boys being assaulted in Teddington.
Police were called to reports of concern for a child in Teddington on Wednesday, 4 June.
It is alleged that two suspects in two separate cars assaulted two teenage boys on Broom Road near Teddington School.
A police spokesperson told Teddington Nub News: "Police were called at 10:56hrs on Wednesday, 4 June following reports of concern for a child in Teddington.
"Officers attended the scene at Broom Road, where it's alleged two suspects in two separate cars assaulted two victims that morning.
"Two boys, aged 16 and 17, received minor injuries in the assault which have not required further treatment."
July

However, in July, you were all excited to read about a Teddington restaurant owner opening a new rooftop bar in Kingston.
Sonny's Riverside, which overlooks the Thames, opened in Kingston on Thursday, 10 July.
It is nestled above the Riverside Walk and is run by Sam Berry, who also co-owns Cento Uno in both Surbiton and Teddington as well as the former One One Four, and the team behind Dropkick Ventures, a London-based hospitality group that has brought venues such as Barrio Bars, Disrepute, Pearly Queen and Richmond's favourite beer pub, the Tap Tavern.
Together, they've created Sonnys, a rooftop bar that brings holiday energy to Kingston, with cocktails, music and food residencies designed for summer.
August

August's most read story was about a prolific shoplifter being arrested near the Tesco carpark in Teddington.
The Teddington Safe Neighbourhood Team's (SNT) PC and PCSO arrested a "prolific" shoplifter on Wednesday, 13 August near the Tesco car park in Teddington.
The shoplifter had stolen goods worth £180 from two shops.
September

Whereas in September, our biggest story was about a Teddington café being sold to a new owner.
Pink Maple Café, which is located on the Causeway, was under the same ownership for three years.
To announce the sale, the café's former owner, Dhara, left a note in the café window, saying: "After very protracted paperwork - Pink Maple is formally "sold".
"It has been a three-year adventure.
"I and the team have especially enjoyed the many conversations and glimpses into your many varied lives;- old, young, wedding plans, divorces, job searches, job losses, bereavements, births, beautiful babies, house moves, home renovations, business successes and failures, students, gardening tips, recipes, courses, health issues, friendships, parenthood, blind dates, international dates, sex changes, a gamut of professions, old pen friends, meetings , etc etc."
Eleana's Bistro took over the café in October.
October

October saw one of our saddest stories as Teddington School closed following a sudden death of an external contractor on site.
A school in Teddington suddenly closed on Tuesday, 7 October with "many" police and ambulances seen outside after a man died.
Children were sent home from Teddington School on Broom Road just before 9am.
Parents were left waiting to discover the reasons behind the closure, with the school yet to announce the nature of the incident.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 7.17am today to reports of an unwell person in Broom Road, Teddington.
"We sent an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer to the scene.
November

While November had lots of widely read stories, one that really captured your eye was an article about Hampton being among the top three burglary hotspots in the UK.
MoneySuperMarket revealed the UK's top burglary hotspots and the Hampton postcode of TW12 made the top three.
To calculate the results, MoneySuperMarket analysed home insurance quotes from MoneySuperMarket Home Insurance customers to find the UK postcodes with the highest and lowest rates of burglary claims since 2020.
And in third place was Hampton (TW12) with 38.1 burglaries per 1,000 since 2020.
December

And finally in December, our most read story was sadly about a man dying suddenly in Bushy Park.
The man died in Bushy Park on Monday, 8 December.
Police and ambulance crews were called to the park to reports of an incident.
Despite efforts from the London Ambulance Service, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police later announced that his death was being "treated as unexpected but not suspicious".
