After being closed since 2022, The Lion pub has been sold, according to Fleurettes Estate Agents.

The site of the pub, which was owned by Stonegate Group pub chain, is located on Wick Road and was up for sale on Fleurettes for £950,000  +VAT, but the buyer of the pub has not yet been revealed.

Stonegate Group described The Lion as: "The Lion is a well presented, Victorian style pub which occupies a corner plot in a residential part of Teddington, London.

"Popular for its wide selection of cask ales and traditional food menu, the pub is at the heart of the local community.

"The pub currently operates from a one bar operation which has a good selection of lagers and cask ales which leads into an area of seating for both eating and relaxing.

"The Lion is well maintained and is in good order both internally and externally.

"A prospective new retailer may wish to develop and enhance on the traditional features. There is a well-equipped trade kitchen located on site, capable of producing a simple pub food menu.

"Externally, to the rear of the pub there is an external patio area which can be enjoyed during the summer months and a function room for 50 people to drive additional revenue.

"The private accommodation is in good order and comprises of three bedrooms, a lounge and kitchen."

The Rising Sun in Isleworth expressed its hopes to purchase the pub at the end of last year, with the idea of selling Thai food.

However, after posting about its plans on social media and receiving negative feedback from locals who claimed they'd prefer to see a pub with traditional pub grub, The Rising Sun decided not to progress with the purchase in November.
