Commissioning Manager - Mental Health

Richmond and Wandsworth Councils have an exciting opportunity to join the Commissioning Team in the Adult Social Care and Public Health Directorate.

We are seeking a highly motivated, solution focused and tenacious individual for the role of Commissioning Manager - Mental Health.

This position is well suited to an innovative and motivated individual who is passionate about improving the opportunities and lives of vulnerable adults.At the heart of our work is promoting independence, choice, health and wellbeing of the local populations through strengths-based approaches.In this role you will manage commissioning projects, through their life cycle, ensuring that they maintain connected to the Commissioning Cycle of Analyse, Plan, Do and Review.The role requires the individual to be highly organised, able to manage multiple strands of work within deadlines and enjoy being involved in a variety of activities and projects.We are seeking an individual with strong communication and presentation skills, enjoy working with the people and able to lead and inspire others.

About the role

You will be required too:

  • Lead and support commissioning projects following the commissioning cycle.These projects will include co-producing with residents the development of services, procurement of new contracts and maintenance of provider and wider stakeholder partnerships.
  • You will support the co-design of innovative new service models and shaping of the local provider market in a way that promotes the aspirations and ambitions of people with Mental Health.
  • You will be tenacious and creative in working with local providers to ensure high quality and effective services are delivered that demonstrate value for money.
  • Not only will you generally be very organised, an effective communicator and pro-active, but you will be willing to engage in resolving complex problems with a range of providers and embrace change well as a necessity.
  • You will havean interest and experience of commissioning as well as supporting people with Mental Health and the government's agenda in relation to these areas.
  • You will behighly motivated, creative, and persistent in seeking solutions and be open to learning from and with others and working with people to effect positive change.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

As a Commissioning Manager (mental health), some of the essential qualifications, skills and experience we will require are the following:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent by recent and relevant work experience.
  • Experience in commissioning services within a public sector/local authority environment.
  • Excellent literacy skills and the ability to prepare clear and concise written documents and reports. (e.g., Business case, Strategies, governance reports, service specifications, monitoring reports).
  • Excellent IT skills and the ability to make effective use of IT such as analysis of data.
  • Good knowledge of social care and health policy and legislation.
  • Good knowledge of project management tools and techniques.
