James Croxley is a successful picture-restorer. His wife Eleanor sings in a choir who will perform Bach's St Matthew Passion at the Royal Albert Hall. Together, they've shared twenty-five happily married years, faithful, fulfilled and fading. Enter Kate: smart, seductive and mistress of James' recently deceased friend Albert.
