Plans to refurbish a vacant Teddington shop which balance "modernity with tradition" have been put forward to Richmond Council.
If approved, the scheme would see the frontage of the empty High Street shop completely remodelled.
The application says the current owner took over the unit in September but has been unable to open a new business due to the "deteriorating condition" of the building's exterior.
"The proposed enhancements to the shopfront are designed with a profound respect for the heritage asset's architectural and historical significance," the application explains.
"The introduction of white-painted aluminium frames and 12mm toughened clear glass, while using modern materials, is intended to mimic the aesthetic and functional qualities of the original windows.
"The stallriser will be constructed from solid Meranti wood, chosen for its durability and aesthetic compatibility, and crafted to replicate the traditional style, thus preserving the visual consistency and historic character of the facade"
Plans state there is a "crucial" need to give the former 'Organically' shop a makeover.
They say the current condition of the building compromises its "preservation".
And the application indicates the new business would be called 'Serpil Aesthetic Skin Clinic'
"Overall, these enhancements are carefully planned to maintain the integrity, significance, and continuous use of the heritage asset, ensuring that the building remains a testament to its historical and cultural context while being adapted to meet contemporary safety and conservation standards," the application added.
However, the plans - submitted earlier this month - have already been met with an objection from the Teddington Society planning group.
"Although the proposed reinstatement of the original stall-riser and window proportions is welcome," the objection said, "we consider that the modern plate glass door is not in keeping with the existing heritage door and windows in this BTM [Building of Townscape Merit] and detracts from the building.
"The style of the original door with its glass pane and wooden panels should be reinstated here.
"Taken together with the internally illuminated fascia lettering, which is in addition to the proposed overhead LED lighting and signage, we consider that this application would detract from the host BTM and neither be an improvement to the original shopfront nor enhance this historic building and the High Street conservation area."
