What you'll do Content technology and innovation Our Content Technology and Innovation team delivers high-quality content to homes, customer devices, businesses and commercial partners across our European markets. With over 2500 colleagues from around the world, we combine our strategic insights, engineering know-how and operational excellence to use the most innovative technologies to create and distribute our award-winning content. We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer with a passion for building quality software with automation in mind from the onset across a range of applications central to Sky's Advertising Technology. New and replacements to existing applications to make them Cloud first are being proposed and formulated all the time and you will be involved in their design from the start. You will report into a Senior Engineering Manager. While your day to day is around improving your squad this is also about helping to improve the wider tribe and department

• Lead an energetic and driven squad at the forefront of Advertising Technology
• Provide technical direction and champion good Software Engineering standards across the squad
• Be hands-on, leading by example and contributing approx. 60-70% of your time to coding
• Work closely with stakeholders in an Agile environment to improve the products
• Recommend and drive best practises and tools and share knowledge with the squad
• Line management responsibility for Engineers within your squad. More than that though you will mentor and coach them in a collaborative and supportive manner.

What you'll bring You will have some leadership experience in team or be a senior engineer - open as well, indirect leadership exp is fine ready to make that next step. Some of the things we are looking for you to bring:

• Experience with agile methodologies, ways of working and practices such as Scrum or the 'Spotify Model'.
• Solid experience of delivering secure, performant applications in a variety of languages (Python, Java, Golang) SQL in a cloud-based environment (GCP/AWS)
• Comfortable breaking down large, undefined problems into smaller solvable ones.
• A commitment to driving excellent Software Engineering standards (TDD, BDD, CI/CD, Clean Code) into the team
• Familiarity with IaC for at least one public cloud provider, preferably GCP
• Enjoy helping to grow individuals in a cross functional team.
• A growth mindset that constantly challenges how we deliver today.
