Teddington: mini-heatwave forecast for next 4 days
Teddington will be hit by a mini-heatwave over the next four days, according to today's Met Office forecast.
Residents are set to enjoy highs of 31 degrees Celsius this weekend and will be getting balmy weather from tomorrow, Friday 16.
The Met Office states that there will be "early mist and patchy cloud," on Friday morning but this will be "soon clearing to leave a fine and dry day, with plenty of warm sunshine."
They added: "Perhaps a little cooler on the east with an onshore breeze. Maximum temperature 27 °C."
In its outlook for Saturday to Monday, the Office stated:
"Early mist and cloud soon clearing to leave plenty of warm or very warm sunshine throughout the period. "Increasing risk of some isolated heavy showers on Monday." Teddington was the hottest place in the UK last month when highs of 29.7 degrees were recorded here on 16 June. But while many residents will welcome the news, the risk of dangerous behaviour at Teddington Lock is likely to increase. During the last bought of hot weather, police had to be called to the Lock to deal with young people jumping off the footbridges. This is despite repeated warnings by the RNLI about the dangers of jumping off bridges into rivers across the UK. In a statement last year, they said: "Around the UK, many are putting themselves at huge risk by tombstoning. "At Teddington recently, we've seen dozens of young people doing this at the Lock footbridge. "You risk serious spinal and other injury; cold water shock on entry can kill in seconds. Please respect the water." Last month, two RNLI crew who were off-duty helped rescue a boy who got into difficulty while swimming across the river at Mallard Place in Teddington. There was also concern about the number of people swimming in the busy boat lane at Teddington Lock, with some teenagers going dangerously close to the weir. How will you be spending the heatwave?
