It's official - Teddington is the hottest place in the UK as of Wednesday 16 June.

Temperatures have soared in the past week, but today was particularly scorching and the Met Office has now recorded it as the hottest day of the year so far.

Teddington was named the balmiest spot with highs of 29.7 degrees Celcius recorded here .

The news came in this afternoon as sun-seekers flocked to Teddington Lock to soak up the sun on the Lock 'beach' and swim in the Thames.
