Cricket

It was a magnificent weekend for Teddington Cricket Club with all three teams picking up vital wins.

The first team defeated opponents Brondesbury by seven wickets as Thomas C Shaw scored 51.

This puts the team just a point behind leaders Ealing, who lost their fixture.

The second team defeated Shepherd's Bush by four wickets with Ali Easton scoring 61.

This now puts them nine points ahead of nearest rival Richmond at the top of the table - a fact I'll be sure to remind my counterpart at Richmond Nub News of.

Finally the third team got in on the act too scoring a decisive 40 run win over Barnes.

This puts them two points clear at the top, again over Richmond.

This means that a Teddington Treble is very much on the cards.

Rugby

It was a harder weekend for Harlequins as they lost to already relegated Saracens.

The final score in the game was 38-24 to the North London Club as this defeat puts a serious dent in Harlequins' top four ambitions.

Harlequins head of rugby Paul Gustard said:

"Largely I was pleased with the performance and the effort of the players.

"We defended well and our scrum was dominant but we didn't control the field well in the first 40. The last play of the first half was the big tipping point in the game.

"Saracens have a lot of talented internationals and are well coached, but we scored three open-field tries against them and caused them problems."
