Handel's Messiah to be preached at Christ Church, Teddington

During August two different series of sermons will be preached at Christ Church, Christ Church Avenue, Teddington, TW11 9AB.

On Sunday August 2nd (11am and 6pm), Sunday August 9th (11am), and Sunday August 30th (11am and 6pm), a series of sermons will be preached by Reverend Stockford which will address some of the Scriptures used by Handel for his oratorio, The Messiah. And yes, one of them will be "…and He shall reign forever and ever. King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. Hallelujah!" - words that are found in three places in the Book of Revelation, Chapter 19 v6, 11 v15, & 19 v16. But you'll have to come to find out which one it will be!

Plein Air on the Thames - Summer of Culture 2026

Friday 7 August, Landmark Arts Centre, 10am - 4pm.

This course offers participants the opportunity to observe, connect with nature and create visual responses to the world around them through drawing and painting. Focusing on the power of observation, the workshop encourages participants to slow down, look more closely and capture the atmosphere and character of the landscape through creative practice.

The day will be spent exploring the banks of the River Thames, just a short walk from the Landmark Arts Centre. From tree-lined stretches to wildflowers and local wildlife, the riverside environment offers a rich source of inspiration for sketching and observation. The group will stop at Teddington Lock for lunch, where benches, tables and bathroom facilities are available. Participants should bring a packed lunch and dress practically for walking and working outdoors.

Free Lunch and Summer Party at The Elleray Centre

Friday 7 August, The Elleray Centre, 10am - 2pm.

Friday August 7th - that's the date of a wonderful free party at the spectacular new Elleray Centre in North Lane in the heart of Teddington. We'll start at 10.00 am with some games guaranteed to get everyone in party mood before we serve a freshly cooked two course lunch (with vegetarian options). Then there will be live entertainment. Everyone will receive a free ticket for the raffle and you can increase your chances of winning a prize by buying additional tickets.

It's certainly going to be a fun event!

Self Defence Course

Whether male or female, young or old, self-defence training can prevent injury and boost confidence.

Kevin Hyde, a former Metropolitan police officer who taught self-defence and was a first aid trainer for the police, has created a two-hour session covering self-defence techniques, legal implications and conflict de-escalation.
