Richmond saw the smallest growth of its housing stock of all south west London boroughs in 2022.

Data from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities shows that only two new homes were built for every 1,000 existing dwellings, four times less than the national average of nine per 1,000.

Meanwhile, neighbouring Hammersmith and Fulham built 15 new homes for every 1,000 existing units, with Wandsworth, Ealing, and Hounslow close behind with 14, 12, and 11 homes per 1,000 respectively.

The borough also has higher rates of households in temporary accommodation than the national average.

Some new housing developments are being given the green light by Richmond Council, although it remains to be seen if this will meet the ongoing demand for new homes.
