So many consultations, so little time: Four Teddington developments you need to know
Ever feel like you can't keep track of all the new construction sites popping up around town?
That's why Teddington Nub News has rounded up four of the most important developments currently under consideration in the area.
Sheldon House redevelopment – approved
This application to replace Sheldon House along Cromwell Road stands out as one of the few developments looking to downsize an existing building.
Teddington's own Boathouse Design Studio is looking to replace the seven-storey block of council flats – sold off under 'right-to-buy' – with a five-storey building containing 27 units.
A children's playground and an "ecology area" are also planned.
The project has been approved, although no members of the public came forward in support during the consultation stage; there were 12 objections.
"The project is totally over the top and only benefits people who'll make profit from this."
– Mr Travis
"[Sheldon House] is an iconic building in a very attractive setting."
– Ms Terry, part 1
Hampton Hill business park – assessment stage

St Clare Business Park could be demolished to make way for a new mixed-use development including 98 flats up to a height of five storeys.
It looks unlikely though. Since first submitting an application in 2022, there have been 371 objections from the public to only two residents offering their support.
"I believe the scale of the problem due to the lack of housing in the area is so severe that there is no good reason whatsoever to turn this down."
– Mr Winfield
"There is no feasible traffic management plan with parking and traffic in the area already at its limits."
– Ms Avery
Hampton Wick student accommodation conversion – approved
Kingston Bridge House, an old student accommodation block near its namesake Kingston Bridge will be converted into regular residential units, including seven wheelchair-accessible flats and four for social rent.
There will be alterations to the building's exterior appearance too.
With the application receiving 54 public comments of support to only 15 objections, it's easy to see why the project was given the go-ahead by Richmond Council.
"New homes are needed desperately."
– Ms Johnson
"It is reminiscent of someone missing front teeth with contrasting gaps when they smile. Weird and ugly."
– Hampton Wick Association
Hampton Water Treatment Works conversion – assessment stage
Waterfall Planning is looking to convert and extend two buildings from the Hampton Water Treatment Works site into 36 flats and "flexible business space".
The plans have come up against stiff opposition from locals, with 25 objecting and only six supporting.
"Sympathetic plans which are in keeping with its heritage. Full support for a much needed pedestrian crossing too."
– Mr Basher
"No better than the last application. It's just lipstick on the pig."
– Miss Cramp
