Police have been quick to reassure residents after a series of attempted burglaries in Teddington.

Increased safer neighbourhood patrols will be out across the town in the coming days following a number of 'linked' incidents last week.

Nub News has shared footage from concerned residents which appears to show masked men trying to gain entry into their homes.

The footage comes from two incidents which occurred in the early hours of the morning last Wednesday, 12 February.

The first incident took place at a home on King Edward's Grove at around 1.30am and the second incident took place at a home on Cromwell Road about half an hour later.

Both households were asleep when the attempted break ins occurred, and they did not realise what happened until they saw the masked men on their doorbell footages later in the morning.

Both incidents were reported to the police, who believes that it was the same gang in both incidents and is now using facial recognition software as part of its investigations.

The police told Nub News: "Local Safer Neighbourhood Officers are aware of a series of linked attempted burglaries across Hampton Wick and South Teddington TW11 in the early hours of Wednesday 12 February 2025.

"Our officers have increased reassurance patrols in the area and provided crime prevention advice to residents whilst each incident is investigated.

"Burglary continues to be a priority for our local SNT teams and officers will continue to provide updates and reassurance through engaging with residents, Neighbour Watch groups and on our police WhatsApp channels."

If anyone has any information that will assist the police, call 101 and quote ref 5985/12FEB25.

Alternatively, to remain anonymous you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

According to local councillor Petra Flemming, "The number of burglaries [in the area] are actually in decline in the ward due to hard work undertaken by the officers" but the matter will be discussed at this Thursday's Police Liaison Group Meeting.
