The people of Teddington still have an affinity with the technically abolished county of Middlesex.

Despite the county being swallowed by London in the 1960s and no longer existing as a postal county since the 1990s many still put it on their address.

Yesterday we looked into this tradition HERE

This issue definitely struck a chord with our readers and we received some passionate responses.

Here is some of the best of them:

Carole Finn said: "They'll have to drag me kicking and screaming before I stop putting Middlesex on my address"

Roz Cooke said: "There's a Teddington in the Cotswolds. I like keeping to the name Middlesex."

Ian Hunter said: "I see no issue with Teddington et al identified as being in Middlesex - in fact, it should be officially reinstated!"

Anna Pero added: "Just refuse to say anything other than Middlesex. Official or not, we all know it exists!"

Neil King wants to introduce another historic county: "Yes, sadly, we are: London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. No offence, I just really like Middlesex. I think we should bring back Wessex as well, especially as the Duke & Duchess are doing a good job these days."

So it seems a pretty definitive yes - the people of Teddington still have a great affinity to Middlesex!
