Teddington RFC were crowned champions of RFU Counties 2 Surrey on Saturday after securing their 20th consecutive league win of the season, and with it guaranteed promotion into Counties 1 Surrey/Sussex (RFU Level 7) next season.

A fantastic accomplishment achieved with 2 games to spare. In reality the occasion was a bit of an anti-climax as opponents Law Society declared on Saturday morning that they didn't have enough players to play a competitive fixture, thereby forfeiting the game and conceding the points.

They did however travel to Bushy Park with their available numbers, so that a friendly game could take place, which Teddington duly won allowing the celebrations to begin.

Its been a wonderful season to date, and great achievement for head coach Matt Searle in his first season in charge at Teddington.

Matt was quick to praise the wider Teddington squad after the game saying 'what has been achieved is a true reflection of the club as a whole and what everyone has put into the journey. We've had 56 players represent the 1s this year and numbers at training have been unreal all year round'.

Attention now turns to completing the league season and attempting to go the through the whole fixture card unbeaten, which will be no easy task as Teddington travel to Chipstead and Old Rutlishians who have been their closest challengers throughout the season.

After that the focus will be on the National Cup, a tournament that holds many fond memories for the Antlers having won the Junior and Senior Vases at Twickenham in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

There was some competitive rugby on Friday evening as Teddington 2nd XV took on London Media 2nd XV on the 4G at Chiswick. With the fixture backlog due to the bad weather earlier in the season and with 2 games still to be played between these sides, it was agreed that this would be played as a double header with points from both games resting on this encounter.

The gamble looked to have back fired in the first 15 minutes as Media came out of the blocks much quicker than Teddington and registered two early trys.

The Antlers settled into their rhythm though, getting a couple of trys back before the break before stretching away in the 2nd half and securing the vital 10 points. It was a thoroughly entertaining game, played between two well matched sides on a wonderful playing surface.

Next weeks match up against Barnes Occasionals now looks to be pivotal in deciding whether Teddington squeeze into the top 2 merit table spots come the end of the season.

Final Score Teddington 2nd XV 46 London Media 2nd XV 20.

On Sunday Teddington RFC Colts were in league action when they took on local rivals Richmond Colts, again on the 4G pitch at Chiswick. Teddington continued their bright form running out winners in an entertaining game.

Final Score Teddington Colts 39 Richmond Colts 26.
