Teddington travelled to Old Haileyburians on Saturday, knowing that a bonus point win could mean they would just be a game away from being crowned league champions.
Old Haileyburians has not been a happy hunting ground in recent seasons, so this was set up to be a real banana skin for the league leaders. Nerves were calmed as the Antlers raced into a 19-0 lead, courtesy of a brace of trys from match day skipper Olly Holland and one from Dan Robertshaw, before Old H's pulled one back.
The visitors were holding a healthy 19-7 lead at the break and the bonus point was secured early in the second half when Robertshaw completed his double, but Haileyburians couldn't be kept at bay as they returned with 2 trys of their own, making for a nervy finish.
Teddington are used to getting games over the line now and they did just that, as they saw the clock down and secured the maximum 5 points.
All eyes were then on the result of the Chipstead v Old Rutlishians game, the only two other clubs who could challenge Teddington for the top spot.
A 17-17 draw between those sides means that Teddington can be crowned champions if they bag a bonus point victory against an in form Law Society side at Bushy Park next Saturday.

The 2nd XV were granted a walkover in their merit table match, when Lightwater pulled out in the week. To replace the fixture, the Antlers made the short trip to Thames Ditton to take part in a triangular fixture against Old Paulines and Bec Old Boys. A victory against BEC OB, was followed by a defeat against a strong Old Paulines side.
Mixed results but the main thing was the team, had some competitive rugby before next weeks merit table clash with London Media.
