A second away game in a row took Teddington to the West Country lining up against the first full university outfit this season. George Oyebode reports on a fourth straight win for Teddington.
With the team's previous trip to Somerset seeing them come up 2nd best against a well-organised Bath squad, they were keen to shake the long journey, early wake up and mixed weather conditions from their game.
The game started with a bang and within minutes a Kyle White shot on goal was craftily deflected past the keeper by Ed Greaves and Teddington found themselves 1-0 up before they'd even settled into their rhythm.
Continuing their stated aim to "win every quarter" and despite considerable pressure from the students, Teddington found a beautiful debut goal from Matt Stevenson deflecting a shin height shot into the roof to go into halftime 2-0 up.
In the driving seat Teddington added another two within minutes in the third quarter with clever individual skill first from Kyle White and then another marauding run from left half Matt Mitcham slotting a beautifully worked goal into the right side netting.
In the fourth, a cruising Teddington then saw the umpire dismiss a player and suddenly Bristol upped their energy and pulled their keeper off to play with a two outfield player advantage.
An unlucky decision then saw Teddington down to nine players and with four minutes to go, the University had halved the deficit. but the comeback ended there as Teddington kept the ball and calmly saw out time.
Ed Wheeler made his National League debut and put in an impressive shift in the back line. l.
The Teddies march on with a four game winning streak including 16 goals ready to face Oxford Hawks next week.
