Teddington Men are made to pay for a sloppy spell against Canterbury

The Teddington Men arrived in Canterbury on the back of a string of really strong performances since the turn of the year, but it was clear very early that Canterbury aimed to make it scrappy, chaotic and frantic to break down Teddington's usual slick and flowing passing game.
The home side took a very early lead, but Teddies managed a quick reply as James Hall latched onto a penalty corner rebound to keep it level.
Teddington scored early in the second quarter to go 2-1 up, courtesy of an Ed Greaves slam dunk after Matt Daly's strike was saved high, but then a mad 15 minute spell they described afterwards as "sleepy" allowed Canterbury in.
They effectively dispatched the game scoring four unanswered goals with some poor Teddies' defending and well-executed corners from the home side.
A half-time reality check from the coach saw Teddington came out hard in the second half and despite intense pressure and a storming performance from the Canterbury keeper, the goals just wouldn't come. Ed Treece did manage to win a penalty stroke, allowing Ciaran O'Connell to slot home to reduce the deficit to two.
Teddington left it too late for the fight back and as the game fizzled out into the last minute, Canterbury scored on the break to secure an emphatic victory.
They know they will have to rediscover their range and usual top-class finishing with league-toppers Southgate travelling to Teddington Broom Road this coming Saturday.
