Facing an in-form Chiswick at home this week, Teddington Ladies decided to go with full-on pressure from the first whistle.
And it proved the right strategy as early attacks through Mimi Harvey saw the Chiswick defence creak and after 15 minutes, their hard work was rewarded with a beautifully delivered flick from Mai Garcia Moritan.
The Teddies continued to dominate and it wasn't long before they extended their lead through Riley Flecker-Lister, who struck the ball into the bottom left corner from the top of the D.
It was always inevitable that a resilient Chiswick side would fight back hard and they duly scored through a well-worked short corner to make the score 2-1. A spell of end to end attacks could have gone either way, but it was Teddington who took their chance just before half time as Jess Hibell slotted one past the keeper to make it 3-1 at half time.
The second half continued in the same fashion with Chiswick managing to land another from an increasingly dangerous short corner drill. Game on at 3-2 and it began to feel edgy exemplified by both teams losing players to the umpire's cards.
Teddington had several close range shots turned away by a lively and industrious Chiswick goal keeper, but it fell to Riley Flecker-Lister to scramble one home to give the home side some breathing space.
And they needed it as Chiswick maintained their pressure to the end and through their deadly short corner work and another was slotted from the top of the D into the bottom right corner. It was tense until the clock ran down and a hard-battling Teddington saw the game home 4-3.
