Following last week's away defeat, Teddington Men's first team were looking to bounce back against local rivals Old Cranleighians ("OCs") for the first derby day on this season's fixture list. Murray Collins reports on the win.

As always, this much anticipated home fixture brought a healthy crowd to Broom Road, out to support the boys in pink.

The first half was a tight affair with both sides displaying good patterns of play, but unable to break the deadlock. Despite Teddington receiving a number of cards to hand OCs extended periods of play a man up, the visitors were unable to convert and the half finished 0-0.

But Teddington started the second half strongly, inspired by coach Ben Edwards' half-time team talk. The deadlock was broken when last season's joint top goal scorer in the league, Kyle White, converted a well rehearsed penalty corner, putting the hosts 1-0 up.

OCs asked questions of Teddington's second phase discipline and were rewarded with two quick goals from open play.

Fired up by going behind, Kyle White managed to create panic in the opposition D to win a clear penalty stroke which he then made light work of to land the equaliser.

Into the final minutes of the game, OCs earned themselves a number of cards and Teddington saw the opportunity to seal the deal. After composed possession, Murray Collins delivered the ball to cousin-in-law Matt Daly who executed a backspace skill effortlessly to beat the goalkeeper.

Teddington maturely saw out the game and secured their second win of the season and remain undefeated at home. They travel to Bath next Sunday hoping to keep the run going.
