Three members of Teddington Hockey Club have become world champions after winning gold in the 2022 Masters Hockey World Cup in South Africa.
Katie Ridewood, Mandy Hurworth, and Sara Walker were all involved in England age group sides who claimed victory at the Hartleyvale Stadium in Cape Town.
Ridewood was the coach of the England women overs 50s teams who beat Argentina 2-0 in the final and only concede three goals in the entire tournament on route to victory.
Hurworth was playing for the England women over 55s team who overcame Scotland in the final 1-0, having also beaten Ireland, Netherlands, Wales, France, and Germany on their path to victory.
Walker was part of the champion England women over 60s team and they defeated hosts South Africa 1-0 in the final in their own triumph.
It was overall an incredibly successful competition not just for the Teddington competitors, but for England in general as they won four out of the five women's divisions, the only won they did not win was the over 45s in which England lost in the final and each of the men's teams won a medal, including a gold for the men's over 55s.
