Work started today on the NHS walk-through testing centre at the St Mary's University sports campus in Teddington.
A huge marquee was erected in the Broom Road car park with several temporary 'office' administration type buildings on the side and stewards in hi-viz jackets were posted at the entrance.
It's expected that the new testing centre will become operational by the weekend.
The testing site will only be for those arriving by foot or bicycle and parking will not be available on the site or nearby. To access an appointment, people MUST book an appointment.
The new site will be open seven days a week from 8am to 8pm to cope with the expected increased demand for testing in the area.

Those attending the site for tests will be required to follow stringent public health measures, including social distancing, wearing face coverings, practising good personal hygiene and not arriving by taxi or public transport.
Appropriate signage will be displayed in the local area to ensure people follow the rules.
The centre is not being run by the council. It is run by a contractor on behalf of the NHS. But if anyone has any questions regarding the parking arrangements enquiries should be directed to [email protected]
Local residents in the Teddington area received leaflets about the new testing centre today (Wednesday, November 4).
If you are displaying Covid-19 symptoms and need a test, you can book one here. Residents have also been encouraged to download the official NHS COVID-19 app or call 119.
