Wild about Wilde - Teddington Theatre Club in marathon 25-hour tribute to works of Oscar Wilde
Teddington Theatre Club is set to host a 25-hour 'Wilde Weekend' tribute to Oscar Wilde in a livestream this weekend.
The club will be performing the works of Oscar Wilde non-stop on Youtube starting at 3pm on Saturday 27 June to 4pm on Sunday 28 June.
The marathon is 25 hours to support the ongoing #landmark25challenge by the Landmark Arts Centre, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and raising funds to support its future.
Producer Steve Wayman said:"Oscar Wilde is one of the English language's most talented writers.
"While we will not be performing all his work we will be performing a significant amount including seven plays as well as poems and letters.
"His comedy plays are a particular highlight and we will be book-ending the performance with his most famous work 'The Importance of Being Earnest' with two completely different casts."
The performers themselves will still all be communicating via Zoom as there is still no set date when theatres can re-open.
While the performance will raise awareness for the Landmark Arts Centre other local businesses can also be promoted.
With shops on Hampton Hill, where Teddington Theatre Club is located, beginning the process of re-opening any of these businesses can receive a shout out on the stream free of charge.
