There is some better news for businesses this morning.

While the national lockdown has shut down huge swathes of the economy the government have announced new support for businesses today.

The total financial package detailed by Chancellor Rishi Sunak today is worth £4.6 billion.

Businesses in retail, hospitality and leisure will be eligible to receive up to £9,000 for each property they use.

The help is in addition to business rates relief and the furlough scheme which has been extended until the end of April.

Local councils will also be given half a billion each to keep them going during the lockdown.
