Where are they heading and who's on board? Bird's eye view of the Chinooks regular run over Bushy Park

The cloudless skies over Bushy Park and the rest of Teddington afforded a bird's eye view of the regular RAF Chinook flights today.

The pair of aircraft were clearly seen overheard and their distinctive engine sound alerted eyes to the skies and their flught path frm their base at RAF Odiham, Hampshire.

This week is Armed Forces Week but celebrations have been curtailed because of COVID-19.

The Chinooks' regular route over Teddington has prompted much speculation about their final destination as well as their passengers which often deployments of Special Forces from the SAS and the SBS.

The aircraft have played key roles in evacuating injured Armed Forces from conflict zones as well as domestic emergencies like the floods in Yorkshire and more recently supporting the emergency services in transporting urgent COVID-19 sufferers from remote islands like the Shetlands.

RAF Odiham in Hampshire is a front line support helicopter base working within the Joint Helicopter Command. The station provides critical, rapid support for UK military operations throughout the world.

The home of the UK Chinook Force, RAF Odiham operates three Chinook squadrons.
