All lines were blocked for approximately 2 hours, with service resuming around 3pm.

"We sent a number of resources including an ambulance, a medic in a response car, an incident response officer, members of our Hazardous Area Response Team and London's air ambulance.

"We treated a man at the scene before taking him to a London major trauma centre."

British transport police added: "British Transport Police were called to Hampton Wick station at 10.33am today following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and a person has been taken to hospital for treatment.
