YORK Street in Twickenham has closed to eastbound traffic heading to Richmond due to a burst water main.

This means Teddington residents planning to drive to Richmond may need to take an alternative route.

Thames Water is carrying out emergency repairs but this work is not due to be completed until Friday.

Richmond Council said: "York Street is now closed to all eastbound traffic due to Thames Water attending an urgent burst water main, a diversion route is in place.

"Westbound traffic from Richmond heading towards Twickenham is unaffected. Both bus stops on York Street will be suspended for the duration of the works."

Residents can contact Thames Water on 0800 316 9800.
