TEDDINGTON's Landmark Arts Centre has been shortlisted for three Time & Leisure awards following a "the most difficult two years" in its history.

The Landmark is a finalist in the Cultural Experience of the Year, Favourite Entertainment Venue and Most Innovative Arts/Community Project categories, it was announced today.

Yet just two years ago it faced permanent closure due to the devastating impact of the pandemic, which saw events and many classes cancelled.

Thanks to a campaign to Save the Landmark, supported by Teddington Nub News and the wider community, £70,000 was raised for the community arts centre.

Helped also by government grants, the centre re-opened and continues to provide Teddington with a superb programme of events - from top-class comedy nights to live music and art shows.

The Landmark's Centre Manager Lesley Bossine said: "We are honoured and excited to be

nominated in not just one, but three categories. "After the most difficult two years in our 25-year history, to be recognised in this way means so much to the whole team – trustees, staff and volunteers – and it is made even more special coming from the readers of Time and Leisure." She added: "Throughout the rollercoaster lockdown months, we received so many messages of support from the local community and now it is great to welcome them back to enjoy a bumper programme of live music, comedy, exhibitions and activities. Roll on 2022!" The Time & Leisure #FoodAndCulture awards are now in their tenth year. Covering South West London and Surrey, the awards champion the efforts of those who make high streets, neighbourhoods and communities so vibrant - from owner-run restaurants and locally-made produce to theatres and community-led festivals. Two of Teddington's restaurants have also been nominated for gongs, which are voted for by the magazine's readers. These are: Shambles (Best Alfresco Dining) and One One Four (Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year) Winners of the awards will be announced on 28 January 2022.
