A journalist revealed today why she believes Teddington was awarded the best place to live in London by the Sunday Times.

Mikhaila Friel, Royal Reporter at Insider.com, visited our town this summer to investigate.

She praised Teddington's village vibe and likened it to "an American film set."

"It reminded me of the kind of whimsical American towns that you'd find in early 2000s TV shows — think Stars Hollow of "Gilmore Girls," or "One Tree Hill," she wrote.

Mikhaila visited high street favourites Cafe Benedict, and The Loft, before wandering down to Teddington Lock and The Anglers pub.

She also looked around Bushy Park and Hampton Court, noting Teddington's historic links to the Royal Palace.

The journalist concluded: "By the end of my visit, I discovered that Teddington is the ideal place to live because it has none of London's bad traits.

"As someone who has lived in London on and off for a couple of years, I'd say some of the worst traits of the city include the overcrowding, the number of tourists, and the fact that people in the city never seem to stop for breath.

"In Teddington, the opposite is true. People there aren't in a rush.

"Even when the cafés and bakeries started to fill up with people at lunchtime, it was nothing compared to the hustle and bustle of central London."
