Located on Broom Road, Teddington School is a co-educational state school for ages 11-18 offering a broad curriculum, academic rigour and opportunities for all, and is currently ranked within the top 100 secondary schools in Greater London.
Nub News produces a monthly roundup of key events and achievements occurring at a school in the heart of the Teddington community.
As teachers and students are currently enjoying a well deserved half term break, read on for Teddington School's May highlights.
Plant sale a roaring success!
A remarkable £2,000 was raised at Teddington School's plant sale earlier this month, a sell-out success!
The school played host to lots of customers and helpers in the sunshine selling flowers galore, which are currently flourishing in gardens across the borough.
All proceeds will be reinvested into school services and a separate fundraiser is also being run to raise money to fill the flower beds at the front of the school which are in need of some attention.
The plant sale hit the ground running with £100 already raised of the £500 target. A link to the fundraiser can be found here.
Commendable efforts from Teddington School's Cricket and Softball teams
The Year 9 cricket team beat Grey Court by six wickets in the Middlesex Cup 1st round. Grey Court posted 75-8 off 20 overs. Theo Heath took 3-19. In reply, Ben Porter (19) and Woody Fowler (17) led the way as Teddington reached their target with 2.2 overs remaining.
In the 2nd round they travelled to St Paul's. The hosts reached 155-3 off 20 overs. Despite a good knock of 43 by stand-in skipper Alfie Gales, Teddington only reached 76 before being bowled out.
The Year 8 team travelled to St. James' for their Middlesex Cup 1st round game. Teddington set a target of 71, which the hosts reached with 4 wickets down. Teddington will now compete in the Middlesex Plate, a competition they reached the final of last year.
The U13 softball team had a fantastic game at home to Twickenham in the Borough League. Good knocks from Jojo Jordan and Harpur McCann, who both retired on 21 not out, enabled Teddington to reach 77-5 off 10 overs. Twickenham were on 76-1 with two balls remaining. James Siveyar kept his nerve to bowl two dot balls to secure a victory by the barest of margins – one run.
Students put their crafting skills to the test!
In Sewing Club, students have started making emoji cushions. May has seen the club learn how to assemble them using the sewing machines.
Sewing Club is a paid-for club at Teddington School and there are still a few spaces left for any new craft enthusiasts! Students would only need to pay for the number of weeks that are left in the term.
Drama workshop at Collis Primary School
A group of Teddington students ran a drama workshop for Year 6 students at Collis School this week to help them prepare for their up-and-coming production of The Lion King!
