Child-like sex dolls 'disgusting' and 'horrifying', says local MP
By Cesar Medina 21st Aug 2026
Local MP Munira Wilson has brought forward draft legislation to ban the possession of child-like sex dolls in England and Wales.
In a private members Bill, Ms Wilson proposes to prevent sexual harm and deviant behaviours that promote the sexual interests in children through its ownership.
The Liberal Democrat education, children and families spokesperson said: "At the moment, somebody who's just been found with a doll can't be tracked in any way, and they won't be on the sex offenders register or anything like that.
"Whereas if they're found with indecent images, then obviously they can be flagged up. But if the only thing you know about them is that they've got a doll, then you're quite hampered in what you can do as a police force."
Owning a child-like sex doll is currently not an offence in the UK, but individuals importing them can be convicted under the Customs Consolidation Act 1876.
Under the draft law, police will be able to seize the dolls and offenders who are found guilty could face prison time as well as monitoring.
Ms Wilson told Sky News: "I have seen images of them [the dolls]. I have found it very difficult to see those images. I have found it very difficult to talk about it.
"I'm a mother as well as an MP. I'm disgusted and horrified that these things exist and they are frankly putting children's safety at risk."
In an operation, the National Crime Agency seized the import of 34 dolls in 2019 and 202 in 2024.
The Bill is scheduled to have its second reading in the House of Commons on 4 September.
