Face masks are becoming mandatory in shops in England from July 24th.
So we asked the people of Teddington what their thoughts on the new measures were.
The majority of people seemed to be in favour of these new regulations - here's what the people said.
"As much as I hate wearing them, I say yes. Anything we can do to protect ourselves and others can't be a bad thing."
"As long as people know they still need to try and keep their distance where possible. I've had people wearing masks practically brushing past me when there's room to keep their distance. Some people think it makes them invincible!"
"Totally.. every little helps..."
"Face masks encourage me to visit shops and I wear disposable gloves!"
"Obviously a good idea and I reckon masks will become the norm in many places over the next few months. I'll be interested to see how well it protects us from winter flu and respiratory tract infections too."
However it was unanimous praise for the new rules.
"The pandemic been in circulation since December! Lockdown didn't start till the 23rd March! It's fair to say living in a country that has a high density population most already have the virus! The mask offer very little protection."
