Fundraising campaign for 'The Globe Players'

The Globe Players, a local theatre company and charity, is running a crowdfunding campaign with which they plan to get more shows online, ready for next term, when they anticipate access to live performances in schools will remain limited.

Shape the future of where you live through virtual engagement events

The council is running a series of online "community conversations" across the borough to discuss local issues and residents' priorities, especially in the light of the effects of the pandemic.

Survey launched to assess health and wellbeing of young people during lockdown

A new youth survey has been launched looking at the health and wellbeing of children and young people during the pandemic.

Townmead Recycling Centre – new online booking system

A new online booking system for Townmead Recycling Centre will be launched from 20 July – enabling people to book their slot in advance and avoid lengthy queues.

Standing up for the 3 million excluded from government support

In last week's House of Commons debate on the economy I raised the need to help the 3 million people excluded from government support. These include new job starters, newly self-employed people, freelancers and directors of limited companies. I also made the case to support local arts venues and small independent travel companies at risk of going bust.

Testing for respite care centres

Day respite care centres such as Homelink in Whitton are a lifeline for supporting the vulnerable and unpaid carers. Despite this, they don't have access to testing for staff like care homes do.

Last week in Parliament, I urged Matt Hancock to address this. Throwing a protective ring around care must include day centres.

Urging the PM to put environment at heart of Covid-19 recovery

I've written to the Prime Minister urging him to put climate action at the heart of the Government's Covid-19 recovery plans. The time is now to tackle the climate emergency.

Save the Landmark Arts Centre

I'm supporting the Save The Landmark Arts Centre campaign. Last week, I met with the Landmark Arts Centre team ahead of Light It In Red.

The Government arts rescue package is welcome but it's not clear whether local venues will benefit. I will keep pressing for answers.

Social care workers being excluded from post-Brexit visa scheme

The government has excluded social care workers from the UK's post-Brexit visa scheme. In my view this is "an insult" to people who worked tirelessly through the pandemic.

Opposing plans to scrap free travel for under 18s in London

As part of a financial bailout arrangement between Government and Transport for London, free travel for the under-18s will be scrapped. I highlighted the impact on the poorest students, especially those studying at Richmond upon Thames College, during a debate last week.
