Teddington playground flooded by burst water pipe
Addison Road playground was flooded this morning (22 August) after a pipe burst just metres away.
Residents reported the flooding and and Cllr Jim Millard alerted the situation to Richmond Council's Environment Health team.
Millard said: "It looked quite concerning this morning, there was foam on the water."
Initially it was suspected the leak onto the playground was sewage, however the Thames Water engineers attending the scene said it was fresh water.
The pipe underneath the pavement in Addison Road collapsed overnight and two paving stones caved, leading to lots of water pouring out.
As the playground is situated at the bottom of a man-made hill, the leakage filled up the area with water.
A Thames Water spokesperson said: "Our engineers attended this afternoon and located a clean water pipe had burst near the park. The pipe has now been repaired and the water cleared from the playground.
"We would like to thank those nearby for alerting us to this issue and would like to assure residents we have teams en route to carry out a further clean-up of the area."
The playground has now been drained and the public walk-way is closed, set to be repaired by 24 August.
