Simon Van Heer, 25, from Wimbledon has been charged with being in command of a dog that is 'dangerously out of control'', according to Royal Parks Police.

The news comes as the Met police have been investigating a dog attack causing injury in Bushy Park on 1 May. Two 'pitbull-like' dogs attacked a smaller dog and its owner near the Sandy Lane entrance of the park at 10:30am.

Van Heer is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates Court on 7th September.

Leads on dogs is compulsory in Bushy and Richmond Park during the deer birthing season which runs from May 1st - July 31st, where around 300 deer will be born across both parklands. The incident happened on the first day of the compulsory leads rule.
