Teddington Library is set to reopen on Monday 6th July with a click and collect service.

Books will have to be reserved online or via the phone on 020 8734 3330 and then residents will be notified of when they are available.

When books are returned they will be placed in 72 hour quarantine in order to stop the spread of the virus.

You will need to queue outside the library in order to collect or drop off your book, with staff making sure that social distancing is maintained.

Staff will also be wearing masks and gloves to ensure they are protected.

Councillor John Coombs, lead member for arts and the libraries, praised the reopening of the service.

He said: "Losing yourself in a book is a great way of escaping from all the stresses and strains of the present situation.

"For children, reading is essential for their continuing development and education – and a wonderful way to keep them occupied.

"Whilst we have been able to help dozens of shielded residents during the lockdown with our home delivery service, Click and Collect is just the first step on the road to recovery for our libraries.

"We will monitor and review its success as we look to bring more services back to our libraries over the next few months."

Libraries have had to adapt over the last few months with a 300% increase in people downloading books supplied by the library.

Teddington library will be open between 11am and 2pm, Monday to Saturday.
