Film fans in Teddington can finally head back to the cinema.

With the government lifting restrictions cinemas can reopen from July 4th.

The nearest cinema to Teddington is the ODEON in Kingston which has announced its return date: July 13th.

Kingston Manager Rudy Adjei said: "We are delighted to announce this ODEON will reopen its doors from 13th July, and you can book tickets now.

"We have made lots of changes to create a new safer cinema experience for you, and we look forward to welcoming you back."

With Christopher Nolan's Tenet the first new release post-pandemic not scheduled to hit screen until July 30th movie lovers can watch some classic films instead.

Kingston ODEON will be showing classic films such as Star Wars and Inception as well as films released earlier this year such as 1917.

So what new regulations will be in place as people make their way back to the cinema for the first time in nearly four months?

Social distancing will be enforced at screens meaning some seats will be left unoccupied to keep to the new one metre plus rule.

This means that cinemas will likely reach around 60% capacity.

Staff will have protective screening on the tills and while popcorn can continue to be served the self serve pick n' mix section will be closed for the time being.

Screens will also have to be cleaned even more so than prior to the pandemic meaning some cinemas could keep screens closed for long periods.

Face coverings at cinemas are currently not mandatory and there are no plans to change this advice for now.
