Residents enjoyed the highly anticipated return of 'Teddington in Flower' back in late April and it has now been revealed the community-led event has raised a remarkable £3,650 for local charities.

Organised by the Teddington Society, the community group operating to 'preserve and enhance' the lives of everyone living within Teddington, the popular event made its comeback following a three-year hiatus enforced by Covid-restrictions.

Making the most of a welcome day of spring weather on Sunday, April 23rd, over 250 visitors turned out to discover the 12 beautiful private gardens on show and browsed the plant stall outside the Landmark Arts Centre.

Crowds enjoyed teas and chats in the charming churchyard of St Mary with St Alban where the hard work of the Adopt-a-Grave volunteers was on display.

Audiences in the church were entertained to two impressive displays of handbell ringing alongside a wonderful display of floral art.

Among those in attendance, was the Deputy Mayor of Richmond, Councillor Rhi Lee, who toured the gardens with Teddington Society's Sally and Geoff Howland.

Commenting on the £3,650 raised in donations, a spokesperson for Teddington Society said: "Teddington Society is overwhelmingly grateful to everyone who helped organise the event and to volunteers on the day, and especially to our garden owners for all their hard work in preparing their gardens and their willingness to welcome us in.

"Most of all, we thank our visitors for their generosity and kind support of this charity event."

All proceeds will be be donated to the Landmark to support the art centre fund plans to plant and open up areas of the woodland garden surrounding the building on Ferry Road.

Kingston Samaritans, which operates as a charity in its own right as well as being part of the national organisation helping those struggling to cope, will also benefit from donations of the afternoon event to help maintain its volunteer-led listening and local outreach services.
