Teddington Hockey Club partakes in national fundraising challenge

Teddington Hockey Club took part in a national fundraising tour last week.
Hockey 4 Heroes' Operation Peacefinder is dedicated to raising essential funds for Help for Heroes.
This initiative took place over nine challenging days throughout May (23 – 31 May) , aiming to honour the 2,029,201 veterans currently living in the UK.
And Teddington Hockey Club took part on Wednesday, 28 May.
Throughout the tour, the Hockey for Heroes men's and women's squads undertook an ambitious challenge – striving to complete a cumulative total of 2,029,201 metres of fitness racing—equating to one metre for each veteran.
In addition, the teams played 54 hockey matches, engaging with the hockey community throughout the country.
To reach the tour fundraising target of £70,000, every member of the squad needed to average approximately 43 gruelling kilometres throughout the tour as well as playing three full length hockey matches per day.
"This commitment reflects our deep engagement in the mission of Hockey for Heroes: to raise as much money as possible for Help for Heroes," said Hockey 4 Heroes.
It added: "Help for Heroes stands as a beacon of hope for our veterans every day, delivering life-changing support that re-builds lives. The importance of their work cannot be overstated, and Hockey for Heroes is resolutely dedicated to amplifying this critical mission. This isn't just their fight – it's ours too.
"We draw inspiration from Help for Heroes' campaign, The Veterans War - Fighting for the peace they deserve, which underscores the sacrifices made by our brave veterans. This challenge embodies the very essence of Hockey for Heroes: a relentless pursuit to generate meaningful support for Help for Heroes.
"Together, we can make a real difference. Every donation counts and will go directly to Help for Heroes, empowering them in their mission to help veterans and their families find the peace the deserve and end the Veterans War."
Speaking about the challenge, a Teddington Hockey Club spokesperson said: "A huge honour to be part of Hockey 4 Heroes' Operation Peacefinder."
Hockey 4 Heroes has already raised £78,776.
