A board game cafe in Teddington is undergoing a re-brand.

Drinks and Dice, which is located on Church Road and first opened in January last year, is changing its name to Drinks and Ice.

According to owner Robin Kerremans, the cafe will now start selling "high-quality, house-made artisanal ice cream and a bunch of special iced drinks to go with the board games (or just on its own for people not into games)" as part of the re-brand.

Kerremans has also submitted a licensing application to the council, seeking permission to extend the cafe's operating hours and the hours it is permitted to sell alcohol to "reflect the re-branding of the premises as an artisan café, ice cream parlour and board games venue".

Currently the cafe is open from 4pm - 9.30pm Wednesday through Friday and from 1pm - 9.30pm on Saturdays.

As part of the rebrand, Kerremans says that he will be hosting a relaunch and two taster evenings where customers can try one free scoop.

While an exact date has not yet been decided, he says these events will most likely take place in mid-July.

Drinks and Dice has over 70 board games for customers to enjoy.

At the time, Kerremans told Nub News: "There are a variety of reasons; it's not running as well as I would have liked, but it's also a personal thing.

"I feel like it's time for a new season in my life. It's not guaranteed that I will sell it but I do want to see if there are any potential interested buyers out there."

However, he has now decided to keep the cafe and re-brand it instead.

He wants to do something new “a new season”. He wants to sell it but decided to rebrand. Maybe, just maybe, Teddington doesn’t need another bland coffee shop selling overpriced poorly made beverages with some supposed “twist” on the theme. We have records and (poor) coffee, we had board games and (expensive and poor) coffee and we have off license , coffee and Chinese food. Here’s the news - the idea, put around by various vacuous “promoters” that people want to have an experience when buying a coffee only works if your coffee is top notch and the economy is working well enough to put money in people’s pockets. The idea that somehow these “experiences” would replace eating-out or be a new “experience” was nonsense and only pushed by people whose job it is to sell junk to gullible people. Enough is enough. People start petitions to stop vape shops but don’t do the same for coffee shops. I wonder why
