Strawberry Hill shop broken into twice in two days

A shop in Strawberry Hill was broken into twice last week; once on Monday, 10 February at around 5.35am and again at 3.59am on Tuesday, 11 February.
Lot 56's owner Jay told Nub News: "I got a call from my security company on 10 February at about 5:35AM saying the alarm was triggered.
"I looked at the CCTV and saw two people trying to break in and then run away because the alarm was triggered."
Jay shared his CCTV with Nub News.
Jay continued: "At this point after seeing the CCTV, I knew that these people lost an opportunity and would probably try again the next day or soon.
"So, when I got to the shop later on in the day, I filed a police report on the Met's website.
"I then received a call in the evening from the police saying they looked at the evidence, but it's hard to trace and tell who these people were and there was no point sending the report to the forensic team because the robbers were wearing gloves."
From his conversation with the police, Jay understood that the case was closed.
So, Jay closed the shop at around 10.30pm on 10 February (he usually closes at 10pm) and then sat in his parked car somewhere where "[he] could see the car but they [the burglars]couldn't see [him] in the car (away from the lights)".
He told Nub News that she saw the burglars return at around 3:59 am on 11 February "trying to break in again but with tools and some bags as well".
He said: "I called 999 straight away and they said the police were on their way.
"As soon as I saw them break the glass and were going to enter the property, I had to step out of my car and stop them because they were going to make a mess in the shop."
as soon as Jay approached the gang, they ran off.
The police arrived within five minutes of Jay's call and tried to follow the gang, but it was too late.
Jay said: "Police looked at the CCTV and informed the other officers who were in the area, but they couldn't do anything.
"The officer said even if we catch them and arrest them, they will deny what they've done in court because there is no strong evidence like fingerprints or face evidence."
The police have been contacted for more information.
