The Richmond Charities will open new almshouses in Mitre Mews for older residents living in the borough in December.

The brand-new development will feature four high-quality one-bed wheelchair user dwellings and one high-quality one-bed accessible and adaptable dwelling.

The homes will be affordable and suitable for the over 65s in the borough who are in housing and financial need.

The Richmond Charities provides a vibrant, friendly and caring community where older people are encouraged to live full and active lives within the setting of high-quality housing, support, comfort, and security.

Almshouses are a charitable form of self-sufficient, low-cost community housing that is held in trust for local people in housing need.

They belong to charities and provide exclusively to meet the charity's purposes and are occupied or are available for occupation under a licence by a qualified beneficiary.
