Local MP, Munira Wilson has officially opened the new Pain Clinic at Teddington Memorial Hospital.

The clinic, designed to provide expert care and support for people living with chronic pain, has been enhanced thanks to a funding contribution of over £150,000 from The League of Friends of Teddington Memorial Hospital.

The new facility will allow patients to receive specialist assessment, treatment and support with long-term management, improving quality of life for many people living with persistent pain.

As part of the project, the League of Friends also launched a competition, inviting local primary school children to be involved in the development of the clinic by suggesting names for the new space and contributing artwork.

The winning artwork entries were displayed during the opening ceremony and will brighten the clinic for patients and visitors. Some of the young winners, their families, and school representatives attended the opening event.

Munira Wilson MP, who unveiled the plaque to open the clinic officially, said: "I am delighted to open this important new service at Teddington Memorial Hospital.

"Chronic pain can have a devastating impact on people's daily lives, and this clinic will provide vital support and specialist care close to home.

"It is wonderful to see the community come together to support the hospital with generous funding provided by the League of Friends and the creativity of local schoolchildren through their artwork."

Chairman of The League of Friends, Simon Douglas Lane, said: "The League of Friends is proud to have contributed over £150,000 to make this much-needed facility a reality.

"Our charity exists to enhance the hospital's services for patients and staff, and this new pain clinic at The Woodland Suite is a perfect example of how community generosity can make a tangible difference.

"The involvement of local children through the naming and art competition has made the clinic feel truly rooted in our community."

Clinical Lead for the Pain Clinic, Dr Prabhu Gandhimani, added: "This clinic will allow us to offer more patients personalised care, treatment options and ongoing support in a modern, welcoming environment.
