Richmond borough named as one of UK’s happiest places to live by Hello! magazine

The borough of Richmond Upon Thames has been named as one of the UK's top ten happiest places to live by Hello! magazine.
Research conducted in a new report found that certain places in the UK offer a higher level of contentment for their residents than others.
For its list, the magazine aimed to highlight the areas of the UK that offer a connection to nature that can help improve mood.
So why has Richmond borough been included in the top ten?
Hello! says: "When it comes to towns within the parameters of England's capital city, Rightmove lists Richmond as its top choice. Is it accessible to everyone?
"With house prices averaging £939,329, the honest answer is no, but for those who do call it home, it appears it delivers in satisfaction.
"It doesn't take long to get into the city, but the riverside restaurants, 'town' atmosphere, not to mention the sprawling Richmond park on its doorstep, all make it feel pleasantly, well, un-London-like.
"I've often wandered its streets, dreaming about calling it home one day."
Visit Richmond describes the borough as being best known for "its beautiful green open spaces, rich history and a favourite destination for thousands of local and international visitors."
The borough hosts the longest stretch of the River Thames, running for over 10 miles through the area and helping link Hampton Court Palace, Richmond Town Centre and Kew Gardens with London.
Throughout the region's history, it has often been referred to as one of London's most attractive boroughs, with it having been a favourite retreat for Royalty.
Home to many hidden gems, Visit Richmond highlights the likes of Marble Hill House, Pope's Grotto, Garrick's Temple and Turner's House as just a few unmissable spots.
