Teddington Cricket Club (TCC) was bowled over this weekend after scooping £1032 through a partnership between Richmond's community lottery GET LUCKY LOCAL and the Wharf restaurant.

Their cash boost was the result of 2000 tickets bought by The Wharf riverside restaurant as part of a unique initiative between GET LUCKY LOCAL and The Wharf, whereby diners donated an additional £1 to their bill over the month of July and the restaurant generously matched the donation.

A spokesperson for TCC said: "Teddington Cricket Club would like to say a huge thank you to The Wharf Restaurant and Bar and all of their patrons for supporting The Get Lucky Local Lottery and Teddington Cricket Club.

"The money raised will go towards providing more practise and playing facilities for our ever growing junior section which has seen record numbers of boys and girls take part in playing cricket at Bushy Park."

The owner of The Wharf, Barbara Spain, said: "We are delighted to be supporting this community initiative and seeing the impact on local organisations where extra funds are so vital."

"I'd also like to thank our growing family of customers who have supported us through this tough time but also recognise the need of other groups in the community."

Last month the local GOOD CAUSE was the Teddington Theatre Club which scooped a curtain-raising £25,000 jackpot in the GET LUCKY LOCAL. For August the partner community cause is the Teddington Swimming Club.

The GET LUCKY LOCAL lottery was launched last November and is raising over £50,000 a year for Good Causes and 59 community projects across the Borough are now signed up.
