Deer in Bushy Park were spotted cooling off in the lakes today.

Volunteer park ranger Cathy Cooper took photographs of the animals who were seeking respite from the soaring temperatures.

Understandably so, as the Met Office has just reported that today was the hottest March day in the UK for over 50 years!

Temperatures of 24.5 degrees Celsius were recorded in nearby Kew Gardens, and this was nearly matched by Teddington which had highs of 24 degrees celsius.

Many people left their houses to enjoy the balmy weather in the town's many green spaces.

Some had the same idea as the deer and swimmers were spotted at Teddington Lock's 'beach' diving into the Thames against Council advice.

But two hours later they had to move as the spring tide swept in.

The high temperatures are set to continue tomorrow with a 23 degree Celsius day predicted in Teddington by the Met Office.

By Thursday the weather will be back down to the 10s and there's rain forecast for early next week - so enjoy the sunny weather while you can!
